Initiative: Bring Reusable Bags to the Grocery Store Mar 2008
avatar rickbennett Supports: 12

Every time we go to the grocery store we have a choice to make. No, I am not talking about organic milk vs. conventional milk or free range eggs vs. cheap eggs. I am talking about our grocery bags.

Next time you are in the grocery story and they ask you if you want paper or plastic (assuming you are not in San Fran or a Whole Foods), tell them neither and pull out your own reusable bags.

There are a number of places to buy these bags (or you could make your own). Just look online. However, if you would like to have some snazzy bags in assorted colors (that fold us the size of a cell phone) and also help provide jobs in India (systemically help the planet and people in poverty), consider buying from Small Steps in India. They have offices in the USA and are looking for volunteers to help get the word out.

Their website is to the right.
