The Gospel , the good news that Jesus brought, has been hijacked by judgmentalism and self-righteousness. Those of us who are passionate about his message, including the Secret Message that Brian D. McLaren talks about should do all that we can to make sure that povery, sickness, or poor socio-economic status do not prevent the good news from being proclaimed. It is not enough to say "well, if they had not been so lazy, they would not be poor, or if they simply worked hard enough, the "American dream" would ring their doorbell." There are real people with real issues out there, and unless we rescue the Gospel from self-righteousness which erroneously implies that I deserve more blessings because I "obey God more" this problem will continue an dthe suicide machine will just keep grinding us to the grave.
