Wild strawberries grow beautifully around where I live. They grow modestly but produce beautiful tiny fruits in great numbers.
When the place they live becomes crowded, they send out runners. I think it would be easy to lift a few of these runners and tuck them in my pocket.
My vision is to take these tiny plants out and spread them around my neighbourhood. It's a kind of 'guerrilla gardening'. Inconspicuously, these small plants can set up home in lots of unused places. Free fresh fruit for anyone, a sign of God's grace breaking out.
[My raspberry canes look a little crowded too. I wonder whether some of those are going to new wild home as well?]
So far I've put out about a dozen new plants in the last couple of weeks. It's interesting how many places I've found to put them. We're approaching the time of the first frost here, so everything's in the dormant phase, but it will be lovely to see which of them take root when everything starts up again after the winter.
I am trying to recruit some friends to use this site as well!
