Mixing Metaphors
Bloging is new to me so not sure I\'m in the right place.

I agree with everything Brian is saying. My observation is that he may be mixing his metaphors between physics and biology in his discussion of systems and the need for change at the systems level. Biology may be the better source of metaphors. Newtonian physics has dominated our modern mindset for far too long -- it is a foundation of our framing story. In organization and business management we have been trying to move away form this metaphor for several decades. The machine is not a good or sufficient metaphor for the body. The metaphors from biology are more reflective of reality: complex systems of interrelated systems based on complex and always changing relationships; self organizing systems; optimizing resiliency and efficiency; organic self perpetuating processes, etc. See Margaret Wheatley, \"Leadership and the New Science\" Christopher Meyer,\"It\'s Alive\" and Debra Amidon, \"The Innovation SuperHighway\" for glimpse of this topic. Peter Drucker for told this shift many years ago.

My point is that we may find the new metaphors helpful in changing our framing story.
